Diving Deep: The Journey Behind Ocean of Love – A New Adventure Begins


Developing Ocean of Love was an exciting and educational journey that involved using a variety of tools and AI technologies to bring this underwater adventure to life. The game was created using Unity Engine, leveraging many free assets from the Unity Asset Store to speed up development and enhance the visual experience. For character creation, rigging, animation, and weight painting, I relied heavily on Blender, ensuring that each character had lifelike movement and appeal.

One of the unique technical features in Ocean of Love was the integration of AI tools for multiple aspects of the development process. I used ChatGPT for coding assistance and problem-solving, which helped streamline the implementation of gameplay mechanics. I also utilized various AI platforms for music composition and post-processing effects, making the game’s atmosphere immersive and captivating. Additionally, I incorporated special VFX shaders to enhance projectile effects, giving the game a visually striking look.

Performance Optimization:

Performance optimization was a crucial aspect of the development process. To ensure the game ran smoothly on various devices, I focused on optimizing both code and assets. This involved reducing texture sizes, simplifying scripts, and disabling terrain texture holes. To provide flexibility for players, I implemented adjustable graphics settings ranging from low to ultra, all made possible through the Universal Render Pipeline (URP). These optimizations significantly enhanced the game’s performance while maintaining visual quality.

Challenges and Learnings:

Throughout the development, I faced several challenges, from coding to game design, but each one taught me valuable lessons. I improved my skills in C# programming, Unity, Blender, VFX, and editing. One major challenge was when my original Google Play Store account was terminated after I uploaded Ocean of Love. Although it was a setback, I learned from the experience and successfully launched my horror game on a new Play Console account.
